Faith
Faith, it can mean a lot of different things to different people. In this work, I aim to speak on how faith has impacted me and how historically faith has been used in some of the most challenging eras in history. In this work I draw inspiration from the mustard seed and how it's represented in the Bible. As the hand reaches down to this unassuming seed, it reaches the potential to grow into something much bigger than itself, and powerful enough to move mountains. This belief has been exemplified through historic eras of oppression, such as the Atlantic slave trade, the abolition of slavery, and the civil rights movements. Faith in God's love and power, and the belief that all people have value, have historically opened the door to freedom for black people and other minority groups.
To me, faith means stepping into the unknown with the promise of things hoped for and trusting in things unseen. This belief has helped me and many others overcome seemingly hopeless situations.
What does faith mean to you? How do you exercise faith?"
